So — been on this thing for about five months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, so thought I’d chuck my thoughts in since a lad on another thread asked me last week. Am in the UK, mostly bet football and racing, nothing mad, just so you know where I’m coming from.
The reason I started using it was genuinely pretty stupid — I couldn’t ever get my head round what an ew return would be when the place terms changed. I’d just eyeball it and then be surprised. Now I punch the numbers in first, every time, even a straight one-selection punt.
The single bet calculator is the part I open most — you put in the price and your stake and it spits out returns straight away, either odds format. Same tool covers the bigger stuff — doubles and trebles maths, lucky 15 and lucky 63, a yankee, honestly that’s where I’d always mess it up. The thing that genuinely made a difference was the more serious bits. There’s an probability converter and it makes obvious the overround, and there’s the kelly staking calculator — I run quarter kelly since full stakes are a quick route to a dead bankroll. The dutching one is handy too if I’m covering two or three runners.
Couple of gripes. Its design is pretty plain — no polish, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. On mobile it works though the bigger tables make you pinch and zoom. And nothing on the app store, just the site — doesn’t bother me just flagging it.
Anyway. Free, no ads shoved in your face, does the job. If you honestly works out returns on a calculator app, give it a go — saved me a fair few “wait, that’s it?” moments.
